Fat and Muscle are two completely different entities. Muscle is an active tissue while fat is used to store excess calories as an energy source. It is almost impossible to achieve both losing fat and gaining muscle at the same time. The reason for this is in order to burn fat, you must deplete yourself of calories. Growth of muscle, requires extra calories. Two things to correct are diet and routine. Please have a look at the Nutrition post.

I can’t stress this one enough. Every time I go to the gym, I see people who don’t squat with proper form. The full squat means going below parallel- this is done by having your hip below your knee joint. This full squat will have the most benefits and be the most effective for building muscle and strength. Of course, due to larger range of motion, this exercise is more difficult and so you won’t be able to do as much weight.
